RAI Prix Italia - Cultural Diversity in a Global World

I created, directed, and edited a 90 second short film on “cultural diversity in a global world” for the 2019 RAI Prix Italia film festival. My film, Street Interviews: Rome, was screened for a panel and audience in an event attended by mayor Virginia Raggi and prominent local cinematic figures.

Film Description: I set up my camera on one small street in Trastevere for the day and asked whoever passed by who they were, where they were from, and what they thought about Rome; for a realistic snapshot of the diversity of everyday life in the city .

Notes from Instagram: The whole process from being asked to participate to final edits took just one month last summer. The theme and especially the 90 second length were really limiting so I had to cut most participants out, but I’ll soon be uploading a longer version featuring more interviews. I’m so grateful and honored to have had this opportunity and for the beautiful city that I got to call home. Shout out and thanks to my friends who made the filming process fun (maybe too fun) and to all the strangers who actually stopped to talk to us.

Street Interviews Roma is the property of RAI and you can watch it on their website here: http://www.rai.it/prixitalia/video/2019/10/Street-Interviews---Devon-Hyer-5f186d60-a839-4559-bbdc-85ce158ffcf4.html
